Anova Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro In-depth Review

Overall Verdict
The Anova Precision Pro is the best all-round vacuum sealer we've tested. The suction score of 8.4 is among the highest in our database, the design is near-perfect, and the handle lock makes it genuinely easy to operate with one hand. It passed the sous vide test on the first attempt -- fitting, given that Anova's core product line is built around sous vide cooking.
The crunchy food breakage result is the same story we see with other high-suction sealers: 40% of the test load was damaged in Normal mode, with no Gentle option available. We’ve taken a look at many well-rated sealers for dry storage and sous vide, and the Anova delivers at a level nothing else in its price range matches. But for crunchy foods, the power becomes a liability.

- Handle lock requires pressure at the exact center to engage correctly
Anova's Precision line covers high-quality kitchen tools aimed at serious home cooks, and the Precision Pro sits at the premium end of the vacuum sealer market. We tested a new unit in our lab across all performance and design categories. Here's what twelve hours of testing turned up.
8.4 Performance
The Precision Pro's performance score of 8.4 is among the highest in this review group and reflects a sealer optimised for maximum suction and reliable sealing rather than versatility. The suction and sous vide results are both class-leading. Compared to the FoodSaver VS-0160 (8.4 performance, 63 kPA suction), the Anova edges ahead with 68 kPA and the same one-attempt sous vide pass. The crunchy food score is the same limitation as the FoodSaver -- a powerful motor with no way to dial it back.
8.4 Max Suction Strength

The Precision Pro reached 68 kPA in 35 seconds. 68 kPA is the highest peak suction in our current database, outperforming the FoodSaver VS-0160's 63 kPA. Despite taking a long time to finish a cycle, dense, dry foods are packed tight. For dry food sealing at this price, it doesn't get better than this.
6.0 Crunchy Food Breakage

The Precision Pro broke 1.8 oz of the 4.5 oz input -- 40% breakage, identical to the FoodSaver VS-0160's result. The power that makes the suction score exceptional also means the motor pulls hard on fragile items before the seal completes. Crackers, chips, and anything similarly brittle will not survive the cycle intact.
The Precision Pro's "Pulse Vacuum" button is the closest thing to a workaround -- holding it down lets you manually control how long the motor runs before you release and seal. With practice, you can limit suction exposure for fragile items, but it requires active monitoring and some trial and error.
10 Beef for Sous Vide

A perfect score on the first attempt. The seal held through the water bath without any leakage. Given that the Precision Pro is designed with sous vide users in mind -- Anova's core customer -- this result is expected, and it delivers.
9.8 Design
The Precision Pro's design score is the highest in our database. The all-black construction blends matte and gloss plastic in a way that genuinely looks premium. The handle lock, bag compartment, and bag cutter are all well-executed. The extra features score reflects what the sealer offers at this price point.
In the Box

The Anova Precision Pro comes in the box with the following items:
- A roll of plastic bag
- Accessory air hose
- User manual
Dimensions

The Precision Pro is a full-size sealer. The internal bag compartment adds bulk compared to compact models, and at 5.0 lbs it's not something you'll move around casually. It will sit on your counter as a permanent fixture in most kitchens. The cord storage compartment on the underside is a practical detail for keeping things tidy.
10 Build Quality

Everything about the Precision Pro's build is well-executed. The all-black interior and exterior use matte and gloss plastic in combination, and the result looks deliberate and considered rather than cheap. The locking mechanisms are solid, the foam seal shows no manufacturing defects, and the lid hinges don't shift laterally even under force.
A bright orange high-visibility strip runs across the heating bar inside -- immediately visible when you open the lid, permanent rather than a peelable sticker, and effective for users who skip the manual. On the underside, a small recessed compartment lets you store the power cord neatly.
10 Control Panel

Seven buttons arranged in three functional groups. The left group covers the main workflow: "Vacuum & Seal" starts a full cycle, and two adjacent buttons select Dry or Moist food mode. The center group handles specialised functions: "Seal" runs the heating bar only, and "Pulse Vacuum" vacuums for as long as you hold the button -- useful for manually limiting suction on sensitive items. The right button controls external vacuuming via the air hose adapter.
Seven buttons is more than any other sealer in this group, but the grouping makes the logic clear. Reviewers familiar with other sealers needed no guidance. New users may take a few minutes with the manual, but the layout is logical enough that it doesn't take long.
The one usability note: the indicator lights built into each button are dim. In a bright kitchen or near a window, reading which mode is active requires positioning yourself directly in front of the panel.
10 Lid

The handle lock is the Precision Pro's most distinctive practical feature. Lift the handle to open, bring the lid down and push the handle forward to lock. The mechanism translates the handle movement into simultaneous engagement of latch locks on both sides of the sealer. One-handed operation is straightforward.
The one caveat our reviewers noted: pressing the handle off-center causes it to flex rather than click into place. Once you know to press at the exact center, it's not an issue, but it's an adjustment that takes a cycle or two to establish.
8.0 Extra Features

The internal bag compartment is large enough to hold a full roll comfortably, and the flip-down cutter lets you trim bag material to any length. Both features work well and are built solidly into the unit.
Note: the product listing and some documentation indicate bag hooks are present, but our test unit did not have them. The absence of hooks means bag alignment requires more manual care than the Nesco VS-12, which does include them. We've scored this category based on what was present in our unit.
8.6 Usability
The Precision Pro is easy to use. The handle lock removes the two-handed lid friction that affects almost every other sealer in this group, the panel is well-organised, and the bag compartment and cutter eliminate the need for scissors. The safety score is docked for dim indicator lights and the absence of an audible chime.
9.0 Ease of Use

The handle lock changes the day-to-day experience of using a vacuum sealer. Being able to close and lock the lid with one hand while the other positions the bag is a meaningful workflow improvement. The control panel is logical and the bag compartment means you're not hunting for a roll of bags when you need one.
The center-press handle requirement and the dim indicator lights are the two small friction points. Both are manageable; neither significantly disrupts the workflow once you're used to the sealer.
8.0 Safety & Noise

The orange high-visibility strip on the heating bar is one of the better safety implementations we've seen -- it's part of the unit rather than a sticker that can peel off, and it's immediately visible when the lid opens. At 83.0 dBA the Precision Pro is moderately loud, on par with other sealers at this suction level.
7.0 Indicator Lights and Chime

Six indicator lights -- one built into each button -- blink to show the selected mode and current cycle phase. The feedback system is comprehensive. The problem is brightness: in our lab under studio lighting, reading the panel required positioning directly in front of it. In a kitchen with overhead lighting or sunlight through a window, the dim lights are a consistent inconvenience.
No chime. No progress bar. Because of this, you’ll have to stay near the sealer to know when it finishes.
