Etekcity Lasergrip 800 vs ThermoPro TP-30 Digital Infrared Thermometer Side-by-Side Comparison
Overall Verdict
While the ThermoPro TP-30 performs better in the ice test, getting a score of 8.45 compared to the Etekcity Lasergrip 800’s 6.6, the thermometer didn’t manage to maintain its lead for long. Onto the oil test, the TP-30 fell behind with a score of just 3.1, as the Lasergrip 800 shone with a high score of 7.3.
Considering how drastic the performance drop of the ThermoPro TP-30 is when it comes to hot surfaces, performance-wise, we’ll have to give it to the Lasergrip 800.
In terms of build quality, the ThermoPro TP-30 is slightly better, with more well-built housing. Both have similarly great laser emitters and displays.
The Etekcity Lasergrip 800 doesn’t come with any extra measurement mode, while the ThermoPro TP-30 has three (average, min, max). This gives the latter a lot more versatility in measurement. Both lack audio cues, however, which can be a hindrance in terms of usability.
All in all, if you're looking for a thermometer with a robust build and more measurement modes, the ThermoPro TP-30 is the better choice. However, for balanced performance in both ice and oil tests, the Etekcity Lasergrip 800 might be more suitable.
