Wingsol Faucet (WS-FM001-PAC) vs Waterdrop WD-FC-06 Side-by-Side Comparison
Overall Verdict
Cheap and having beautiful stainless steel housings that belie their price tags, we can see why faucet-mount filters like the Wingsol WS-FM001-PAC and the Waterdrop WD-FC-06 are so popular.
But do they really work as advertised?
Yes, but with some caveats attached.
We purchased both models and put them to the test in our lab. First, we tested to see how well they were able to filter out chlorine. We pumped highly-chlorinated water through each filter's filter cartridges, collected the filtered water, and then tested it with a specialized water testing kit.
Although both filters took out most of the chemical in the water, the Wingsol still left a trace amount of chlorine in the water that our kit picked up. Meanwhile, the Wingsol WD-FC-06 got a perfect score (all traces of chlorine were eliminated from the water.)
A second test we did for both was the filtering flow rate test, which measures how much clean water the filters can produce in a period of time.
We mounted the Wingsol and the Waterdrop to a high-flow faucet (2.2 GPM) and then turned on the tap. A timer was set up as each filter deposited clean water into a measuring cup.
This test was also “won” by the Waterdrop WD-FC-06. In fact, it’s the fastest-working faucet-mount filter in our database so far, with a record of 1.3 GPM.
Even though the Wingsol’s flow rate only came up to 0.9 GPM, this is still an impressive number well above our minimum threshold of 0.5 GPM. In our ranking chart, the Wingsol is the third fastest-working model we’ve tested.
So, if you want the best, the Waterdrop WD-FC-06 faucet-mount water filter is an obvious choice. But if you have a more limited budget and don’t mind making a few compromises, the Wingsol should still be a decent option.
