Overall Verdict

The Toshiba AC25CEW-BS and the Breville Smart Oven Pro (BOV845BSS) are both digital convection toaster ovens, one medium-sized and the other large. They were quite evenly matched with the slight edge going to the Breville in the end.

The Toshiba was chosen as our best value toaster oven due to it having high scores across the board all the while at an extremely reasonable price. The Breville, on the other hand, is more than double the price of the Toshiba. This price meant more design features, more convenience, and therefore, higher scores in design and usability.

However, there’s a reason why the Breville didn’t make it to our top list. Its performance, though still good, got the best of it. It has a higher power output and stronger convection settings so we couldn’t pinpoint why it didn’t perform as well as we’d expected.

Compared to the Toshiba, the Breville had a lower score in toast because of uneven heating, possibly due to its inconsistent smart heating algorithm combined with the four quartz heating elements. Moreover, the Toshiba’s four nichrome heating elements hit just the right spots for baking pizza. Both units have similarly good scores in baking fries.
