Oster French Door vs Breville Smart Oven Pro Toaster Oven Side-by-Side Comparison
Overall Verdict
The Oster French Door (TSSTTVFDDG) and the Breville Smart Oven Pro (BOV845BSS) are both large digital convection toaster ovens with similar prices. In the end, the Breville is the winner thanks to all the extra features it offers. The deciding factors have everything to do with design and usability, both of which the Breville scored higher.
The Breville has a slide-out crumb tray instead of the Oster’s removable type, a thicker casing for better heat insulation, and carrying handles on the side. Both units have internal lighting but the Breville has a non-stick interior and more tray positions.
The Oster’s french door is a very aesthetically pleasing design but it can slam shut if you slip. It only has the standard one oven rack and baking pan whereas the Breville has an extra broiling rack and pizza pan.
The Breville's control panel makes it easier to see the current settings for cooking mode, timer, and temperature. In addition to better button responsiveness, it also has dedicated toggles for converting temperatures, adjusting convection, and adding time to frozen foods.
With a higher power output and more powerful convection system, the Breville scored higher in almost all of our cooking tests, including toasting bread and baking pizza and fries. The only exception was the whole roasted chicken test where the Oster hit that temperature sweet spot to cook the chicken to a more desirable doneness.
