Cuisinart TOB-40N vs Hamilton Beach 31127D Toaster Oven Side-by-Side Comparison

Overall Verdict
When it comes to our performance tests, the Cuisinart TOB-40N and the Hamilton Beach 31127D tied in baking pizza and french fries. Their toasted bread results showed only marginal differences but with a slight edge going to the Hamilton.
However, Cuisinart wins it all back with its performance roasting a whole chicken. While it took longer to cook, the chicken cooked more thoroughly and, therefore, was more appetizing.
Both ovens have a simple design and similar size, so their distinguishing factors are found in the small details. Interior-wise, both ovens have 4 nichrome heating elements and no convection system, but the Hamilton has a greater capacity. Electricity-wise, the Cuisinart uses 1800 W and the Hamilton uses 1400 W.
As features of convenience, the Cuisinart has a slide-out crumb tray and the Hamilton has a roll-top door. Interestingly, both ovens have the ability to stay on indefinitely but do so in different ways. The Hamilton’s timer knob has a stay-on setting while the Cuisinart has no timer — the oven turns on when you rotate the function dial from Off to a specific function.
In the end, we chose the Cuisinart TOB-40N as the winner in this battle of medium-sized countertop toaster ovens. This was mostly thanks to its more consistent performance, even though it was slightly more expensive than the Hamilton Beach 31127D.
