Overall Verdict

The outcome of the match between the Breville Smart Oven Pro (BOV845BSS) and the Oster 6 Slice Convection Oven (TSSTTVMNDG-SHP-2) boils down to whether you want all the extra features or not. If you do, then Breville is the clear winner.

Both units are large digital convection toaster ovens, but the Breville has much higher scores in design and usability than the Oster. It’s worth noting that the former is also more than double the price of the latter.

Both toaster ovens have a slide-out crumb tray, but the Breville has a thicker casing for better heat insulation. They also have internal lighting but the Breville takes it up a notch with its non-stick interior coating for easy cleaning.

Looking at the control panel, the Breville displays the current settings for cooking function, timer, temperature more clearly. Its buttons respond better to inputs, not to mention the extra toggle switches for temperature conversion, convection settings, and frozen foods.

Cooking performance was where they tied. Both machines have equally good performance scores. However, we expected more from the Breville due to its higher power output. We suspected that its quartz heating elements might have suffered from inconsistency.
