Breville BOV450XL vs Oster TSSTTVMNDG-SHP-2 Toaster Oven Side-by-Side Comparison

Overall Verdict
The Breville BOV450XL Mini Smart Toaster Oven and the Oster TSSTTVMNDG-SHP-2 6-Slice Digital Convection Toaster Oven are two units with interestingly similar overall scores, despite being on two different ends of the size spectrum—the former is small while the latter is large. The Breville is slightly more expensive though, which isn’t a good start for it in this competition.
A higher power draw enabled the Breville to pull ahead of the Oster in our Toast and Baked French Fries tests. However, the Oster was able to retaliate in baking pizza and roasting a whole chicken—we assumed because of its convection system. Curiously, the Oster had faster average cooking times even though it has a larger cooking chamber and lower power draw.
The Breville had a higher build quality shown in its more durable stainless steel casing and responsive buttons compared to the Oster’s. The fact that the Oster had a convection system gained it many advantages in terms of design but not enough to get a higher score.
Both toaster ovens were simple to use, but none were particularly convenient. Thanks to its non-stick interior coating, cleaning the Breville was more manageable. However, the Breville fell just short in terms of ease of use because its door can’t open partially to let food cool down inside.
Overall, it comes down to if you want a small and durable toaster oven like the Breville BOV450XL or an inexpensive and large unit like the Oster TSSTTVMNDG-SHP-2.
