Good chefs know they need good ventilation. If you’re looking for a stylish vent at a good price, check out our Winflo Range Hood review.

By ·Updated

No matter how good a cook you are, now and then things just go wrong on the stovetop. Every chef knows they need a little ventilation to remove smoke and keep the air in the house clean. If you’re remodeling or thinking about an upgrade, take a look at our Winflo range hood review.

Range hoods, also known as vent hoods, come in several different styles. It’s important to consider your kitchen layout before choosing one. This Winflo hood is a wall-mounted model intended for use with an outflow duct (though it can be fitted with filters if you can’t run it to the outdoors). It’s best used in kitchens with no cabinets above the stove.

Winflo Range Hood Review: The Highlights

Pros
  • Modern, easy-to-clean stainless steel
  • Convertible ducting
  • Dishwasher-safe baffle filters
  • Strong blower
  • Adjustable chimney
  • ETL certified
Cons
  • Thin, dentable plating

Though it’s not perfect for every home, the Winflo Range Hood is ETL Certified and comes at an inviting price. Let’s have a look at the features:

Centrifugal Fan and Lights

The Winflo sports a fan of three speed settings. The powerful centrifugal fan capable of moving up to 400 cubic feet per minute (CFM) worth of air. This exceeds the Home Ventilation Institute’s recommended flow rate for any stovetop that fits within the hood’s footprint.

Like most modern hoods, the Winflo is fitted with integrated LED lights. This gives you a bit of extra illumination where you need it most. Despite being called “ultra-bright”, they are not much different from normal LED light found on other hoods. Plus, they’re a bit more bluish than your average “warm-lighting” bulbs, so they might alter your lighting scheme.

Stainless Steel Construction

The entire body of the Winflo Range Hood, to include the baffle filters, is constructed from brushed stainless steel. This not only gives it an elegant, modern appearance, but also makes it long-lasting and easy to clean. The removable grates are even dishwasher-safe.

The stainless steel body is stamped from thin stock, so it’s quite lightweight. This means it’s not too hard on the wall, but presents a different challenge: it’s easy to accidentally dent the duct. Once it’s securely in place, there’s less chance of damage— just avoid unnecessary physical contact.

Versatile Configurations

Unlike many range hoods which must either be ducted to the outdoors or fitted with filters, the Winflo works either way.

Exterior ducting offers the best ventilation and lowest carbon-monoxide risk. However, if that’s not an option in your home, the blower is designed to take carbon filters. The filters will draw out most of the smoke and other particulates, leaving you with much cleaner air.

To account for differing ceiling heights, the Winflo’s chimney is telescopically adjustable. It’s designed to fit rooms 7.5 to 8.5 feet tall. Higher ceilings will require a bit of extra effort.
