Can you core, slice, and peel an apple in less than a minute? Accept the challenge with this Johnny apple peeler, slicer and corer from Victorio Kitchen.

Best Apple Peeler Corer Slicer 2022

The Johnny comes in a heavy enamel-coated cast iron body, which helps it stay firm and sturdy despite the compact size. It’s no lightweight plastic machine that threatens to break after a few use. The gadget is designed for heavy-duty use – it can take care of as many apples as you want to give it.

To prevent sliding while it does its job, a big suction cup is added at the base. You will naturally want to put your free hand on the base to make it more sturdy; however, that is actually not necessary. The suction cup really does a great job in ensuring the stability.

On top of the machine is a metal bar with small prongs at one end, which will keep your apple in place as you mount it there. On the other end of the bar is an arm. As you rotate the arm and move the apple, a fixed sharp metal ring will do the job of coring it.

At the same time as the apple moves horizontally, a loop side blade will peel the fruit as another blade works on cutting it into a spiral slice. All of this happens as fast as you can rotate the arm, which is less than a minute per fruit.

Best Apple Peeler Corer Slicer 2022

Pros
  • Heavy, sturdy, durable
  • Adjustable peeling blade
  • Takes out thin peel
  • Versatile (can core, slice and peel OR just peel OR just slice and core)
Cons
  • Apple juice drops down
  • Doesn’t work well on asymmetrical apples

The result is crispy apple slices, free of the peel and the seeds, ready to be enjoyed. They make a perfect snack for small kids to munch on. At 0.25 inch in thickness, the slices are also just right for dehydrating and making an apple pie. If you have ever peeled, cored, and sliced dozens of apples at a time for dehydrating, you are going to love love love this machine. It speeds up your work by a great deal!

Watch this video by Victorio. The machine is so handy and easy to use. And above all, it is extremely fast compared to doing all the work manually.

As apples come in all shapes and sizes, the blade is made able to adjust itself to the different sizes and shapes of the fruits. This helps it remove the peel without cutting too much into the flesh of bigger or not so round apples. If the apple is really really asymmetrical, however, the blade may miss the small concave parts out.

One thing I really like about this machine is its versatility. If you do not fancy the spiral slices, you can opt for peeling the apple without slicing and coring. On the other hand, if you prefer preserving all of the valuable nutrients in the apple peel, just swing the blade away and you can now have the apple cored and sliced while retaining its skin. The only thing it can’t do is coring without slicing, as the coring ring is also the cutting blade.

Without too many small parts, it is extremely easy to clean. Therefore, it’s better to do the cleaning immediately after use, as the acid from the apples may make the metal material rusty very quickly.

As it is simple in design, the gadget is compact and does not take much space on your countertop or in the cupboard. So all you need to do after each use is just to rinse it off, and dry it with a towel. After that, just leave it there until the next time you bring home another box of apples from the grocery store.

Extra tip: Put the machine into a baking sheet when you use it. That gives the suction cup a perfect surface to grip onto. The sheet will also collect the juice that comes out from the apple as you mount it onto the prongs and peel it. Besides, the peeled skin will fall right into the sheet. That helps a lot with the cleaning!
