How evenly does the Breville Mini Smart Oven bake cakes and pastries?

Asked 111 days agoModified 108 days ago
I'm curious if the Breville Mini Smart Oven bakes cakes and pastries evenly. Does it keep the temperature consistent and spread the heat well so my cakes don't end up with burnt edges or raw centers? Should I rotate the tray halfway through baking to get the best results, or is it good without doing that?

Hi Emily,
On a scale of 1-10, I'd give the Breville Mini Smart Oven a 7.8/10 in terms of even baking. It keeps a consistent temperature but it won't spread the most evenly due to having quartz heating element instead of nichrome (you don't want to use convection when baking cakes and pastries so the oven not having a convection fan isn't a problem).
The ovens that can help you skip rotating the tray are the Cuisinart TOA-60, the Cosori CO130-AO, and the Ninja Foodi XL Pro. Nonetheless, regardless of how even the heating is, you should still check on your cakes halfway through cooking, rotating needed or not, to ensure the best results.
Hope this answers your question!

Thanks for the detailed breakdown! I appreciate the 7.8/10 rating. I’ll definitely keep an eye on my cakes and rotate the tray halfway through baking.

I'll check out the Cuisinart TOA-60, Cosori CO130-AO, and Ninja Foodi XL Pro. They sound like good options. Have you used any of them yourself?

Any tips or favorite recipes for the Breville Mini Smart Oven? I'd love to try them out!

Thanks again!

Glad I could help!
As you can see, in writing these oven reviews, I've had extensive use with them. That's why I can confidently recommend those three as the best options.
As for tips and favorite recipes for the Breville Mini Smart Oven, I found that the oven works best for making toast, baking cakes as well as casserole dishes thanks to its fast and even heating. Just make sure to not place your food too close to the heating elements as to not splash anything on them.
