Moen Sleek MotionSense Kitchen Faucet Review

Overall Verdict
As a fully handsfree kitchen faucet, the Moen Sleek MotionSense Wave 7864EW is a top-quality and enticing option. Its refined motion-activation control and streamlined construction not only brings a sense of sophistication to any kitchen but also enhances our daily routine. What’s more, the sleek, easy-to-clean design working together with touchless control means the faucet stays spotless with very little maintenance. It may not be the best choice for every kitchen considering its somewhat steep pricing, but with outstanding performance on all fronts and lifetime warranty, it’s definitely one of the better choices for those dislike messy kitchens.
Things We Like
- Quality build
- Easy to clean
- Motion sensor
Things We Don’t Like
- Expensive
Offering quality craftsmanship and a true touchless experience with motion sensing, the faucet should help keep the kitchen neat and tidy for years. The faucet’s complex installation does sour things a little on the DIY-front, but it’s more about the various components than the process itself, which is actually cleverly designed.
5.0 Performance
The faucet struggles with low water pressure. If your home’s pressure is below 40 psi, rinsing will be less effective, and the auto-switch function may not work properly. While it might still be usable, there are better options available on the market for low-pressure settings.
5.0 Low Pressure Test

Compared to the WEWE Commercial Style Faucet or the Kraus Bolden KPF-1610, it delivers approximately 0.4 to 0.5 fewer gallons of water per minute.
8.6 Design
With its sleek, streamlined design and minimal details, this faucet embodies modern elegance. Its smooth surface makes cleaning effortless, while its minimalist aesthetic allows it to blend seamlessly into its surroundings. Its striking attention to details, specifically the prayer head and the motion sensor, is immediately apparent when the faucet catches eyes, adding both function and visual appeal to the kitchen. That said, we take issues with the faucet’s lack of weight in the swiveling of the body and the less-than-secure retraction and docking of the sprayer.
In the Box

- User manual
- Mounting accessories
- Electronic accessories
Out of the box, the faucet comes disassembled, with numerous mounting components and electronics for the touchless operation. The user manual provides all the information and detailed diagrams to guide you through the installation process.
8.5 Body Design

The faucet boasts a smooth, full 360-degree rotation, offering seamless maneuverability. Unlike the spring-neck spouts commonly found on the market, we prefer the Sleek for its easier maintenance and spotless look. Its spout seamlessly transitions into a cone-shaped base, giving the faucet a solid, resilient presence in the kitchen. Available in Chrome, Matte Black, Spot Resist Stainless, and Gold, the faucet offers a stylish finish to suit any aesthetic.
9.0 Sprayer Design

The sprayer head is ergonomic and comfortable to use, featuring a responsive rocker button for switching between stream and spray modes. While the button lacks symbols to indicate the water modes, the built-in auto-switch function, which resets the sprayer to stream mode each time the water is turned on, negates any related inconvenience. Plus, the rocker button is coated with quality rubber for a nice finger feel.
8.5 Build Quality

The faucet’s design and build quality justifies its steep cost. With thick plating and quality material, the faucet feels well-crafted on hands. MotionSense operates seamlessly once properly set up and the handle moves smoothly as you adjust the water temperature and flow. The body rotation feels unrestricted, which is always good, though adding a little more weight to the movement would enhance the overall experience in our opinion.

8.4 Usability
The Moen Sleek MotionSense sets itself apart as a truly handsfree faucet. In addition to its detachable, flexible sprayer head, it offers the convenience of motion-activated control, enabling effortless, touch-free operation and enhancing usability around the sink. Moreover, minimal physical contact adds up to a cleaner kitchen in the long run. To Moen’s credit, the faucet installation is also designed intuitively to be as DIY-friendly as possible, despite the electronics components.
8.3 Sprayer

The sprayer offers excellent reach, making it well-suited for most standard kitchen sinks. A ball joint where it connects to the hose enhances flexibility of movement, working seamlessly with the high-quality water hose feel. Buildup in the rubbery nozzles can be cleaned out by simply rubbing them. Nonetheless, we typically prefer a bit more weight on the sprayer hose for a better, more secure retraction and docking.
8.4 Control
Moen MotionSense, known for its reliability, enhances the already impressive Sleek faucet by adding hands-free convenience which improves flexibility for cooks. The auto-shutoff feature helps reduce water waste from accidental activation, making it a resource efficient system. However, the biggest drawback of this technology is its reliance on power—once the batteries in the control box run out, the faucet becomes completely inoperable. To mitigate this, users can invest in an AC adapter or monitor the sensor LEDs, which blink blue when the batteries are running out of juice.
8.5 Installation

Moen’s signature DIY-friendly approach is key to the surprisingly straightforward installation of the Moen Sleek and its electronic features. As long as you’re comfortable working with a few separate parts, installation requires only the included tool to mount. The quick click-connect system and clip-on hose weight eliminate any potential hassle, even for those who aren’t particularly handy.
