InSinkErator Advanced Series 3/4 HP Garbage Disposal

Overall Verdict

With its imperfections, the InSinkErator Advanced Evolution 0.75HP is a worthwhile option for what it offers. It offers not only stainless steel chamber components and exclusive multi-stage grinding, but also advanced acoustic treatment that reduces operation noise like none on the market.

From tough plant-based scraps like avocado pits to cooked animal bones, as long as they are not as tough as raw salmon remains, this grinder can process and send them safely on their way. Plus, the disposal’s close-to 10 years of warranty is undeniably valuable. At around $200, this is hands down the safest bet if you’re looking for a new disposal.

Things We Like

  • Anti-vibration details
  • Premium build
  • Fine output
  • Auto-reset circuit breaker
  • EZ hardwire connection
  • 10-year in-home warranty

Things We Don’t Like

  • Heavy
  • No power cord

The InSinkErator Evolution Advanced is one of the best-looking garbage disposal on the market. Boasting a high-quality noise-insulation trim shell, 3-stage grinding mechanics, and anti-vibration details, it’s one of the best builds the market has to offer. As our records show, the disposal is superior in terms of usability, albeit costly.

6.5 Performance

While the disposal didn’t have the best runs, it impressed us with how smoothly it tends to release its output. In fact, it delivered smaller food particles compared to the old Compact and XTR models when dealing with common food scraps, which suggest lower risks of clogging. Avocado pits, fruit peels, corn cobs, even cooked bones didn’t cause any issues.

It did struggle with raw bone scraps, specifically with raw salmon remains, which tends to happen with new InSinkErator disposals.

Although the disposal wasn’t very quick, it delivers impressive output quality dealing with random scraps from 11 types of foods. In roughly 3 minutes 15 seconds, more than 99% of the input, from celery, avocado peels, to cooked chicken bones, was thoroughly processed. Fish bones were largely broken down, save for a few tricky pin bones.

Materials caught by the filters indicated efficient grinding and the output quality was drain-safe. Samples appeared heavily pulverized and indistinct. Compared to the old Evolution counterpart, the Advanced 0.75HP model is slower but delivers slightly better output.

Failed Raw Fish Scraps

To our surprise, the disposal failed the fish bone challenge, which had not been typical among 3/4-hp models. With two mostly unscathed fins remaining in the chamber, it didn’t qualify for scoring due to the abundant leftovers.

7.9 Raw Chicken Scraps

The results from this test again showed how effective the disposal could be at breaking up bones. For this test, the disposal showed vigor, taking only 2 minutes 30 seconds to process 99% of the input. The output showed that the disposal wasn’t able to fine-grind the input. The slippery and spongy tissues were clearly causing the disposal trouble.

It managed most of the cartilage but left plenty of sinew and fatty skin, which lumped up with other bony pieces and soft tissues. Although the results were far from drain-safe, it did give us valuable data on the effectiveness of the disposal’s multi-stage grinding.

8.9 Design

The InSinkErator Advanced Evolution 0.75 is among the best-crafted garbage disposals on the market, with rigid construction and excellent functionality.

The disposer sports a thick protective casing with advanced features in noise and vibration canceling. It also enjoys durable grinding components and a high-torque induction motor. Its biggest drawback is the motor’s low speed, which has a higher chance of jamming than high-speed motors.

The Advanced Evolution series comes with more accessories than your typical kitchen waste disposer, even for an InSinkErator model. Other than the usual elbow tube, mounting sets, and stopper, the package also includes a straight discharge tube, an adapter that simplifies hardwiring, and a cord clamp. A power cord is sold separately.

The disposal is roughly the size of the Evolution Compact or Essential XTR, which is about average. It is heavy, though, because of the metal construction. Interestingly, it’s also the same size as the Badger series vertically, so you can easily swap them without adjusting the plumbing too much.

The disposal doesn’t have anti-vibaration technology where it connects to the plumbing, unlike its old Evolution counterparts which do. Consequencely, the discharge set uses parts familiar in InSinkErator standard disposals.

For sinks that use thick materials, it’s possible that the bolts set in the mounting assembly may be too short. In such cases, these extra bolts with more length allow the assembly to securely mount onto thick basins.

The Advanced Evolution has a comparatively spacious grinding chamber with more than 30 fluid ounces of holding capacity. But the chamber is not particularly deep, so anything that’s too long such as chicken bones or celery stalks may poke through the sink baffle at times. The disposal has an augmented grinding assembly with more teeth on the grater ring and extra details on the turnplate that helps ensure safe output. All grinding components are made of stainless steel, which tend to stay sharp for a long time.

Not unlike other InSinkErator garbage disposals, the machine runs on a durable induction motor. They all have the same official speed at 1725 RPM. Our test’s measurements, however, have been consistently around 1480 RPM. Note that measuring was done with empty chambers.

10 Build Quality

Noise Reduction
Yes
Vibration Reduction
Yes

The disposal has one of the best builds on the market both in terms of craftsmanship and features. Close inspection reveals a high level of attention to details, most apparent in its trimmed bottom. Apart from multi-stage grinding, the disposal also benefits from anti-vibration technology, specifically at the collar, and noise-insulation shell casing that keeps a minimal noise level. Additionally, the shell is aesthetically pleasing and made of quality composite plastic.

8.4 Usability

When it’s not dealing with tough raw meat scraps, our experience with the Advanced Evolution 0.75HP has been satisfying, to say the least. The disposal is capable of dealing with a variety of common scraps while being perfectly stabilized, producing minimal vibration and noise.

However, the chamber can be too narrow for long pieces of scraps, particularly frustrating with scraps that don’t break easily—chicken bones, for example. As for installation, the Advanced series are arguably InSinkErator’s easiest to install, yet.

9.0 Ease of Use

The Advanced Evolution 0.75HP stands out mainly because of its quiet operation and durability. It’s undoubtedly one of the quietest units on the market, featuring advanced noise treatment that’s only second to the old Evolution series. As a result, it’s a much more pleasant experience grinding away our food scraps with this disposal in comparison to the others we’ve tested.

With premium construction and materials, maintenance is usually undemanding. Furthermore, the disposal is covered with a 9-year in-home warranty. One thing to note is that the motor gets hot if the disposal runs for too long, so make sure to use plenty of water during.

7.0 Installation

InSinkErator Advanced Series 34 HP Garbage Disposal Installation

The disposal is quite heavy but not too bulky for a 3/4-hp garbage disposal. Still, it’s not the easiest thing to move and install within the limited space under sinks. Luckily, these InSinkErator disposals are now much easier to mount than the older models. The disposal also comes with an EZ Connect adaptor that makes it really easy to hardwire the disposal.

10 Smooth Operation

There’s not much to say about how smoothly the disposal operates except for praises. Although it struggled with output quality when processing raw meat scraps in performance evaluation, the disposal was generally one of the least bothersome.
