Waste King L-8000 vs Waste King L-1001 Side-by-Side Comparison

Overall Verdict
The Waste King L-8000 is the larger of these two garbage disposals. Both have permanent magnetic motors, an EZ mount installation, but the L-8000 has a strengthened grind chamber mechanism. However, this did not prove a big advantage in side-by-side test comparisons.
In our tests, the more powerful L-8000 powered down remarkably against mixed scraps and also managed raw fish leftovers acceptably well. However, the L-8000 falls below par in dealing with raw chicken scraps, something which the L-1001 was much better at. The L-1001 is a small unit and the grind chamber does not easily take large chunks or long scraps, but it is a good affordable choice for a small grinder.
