Waste King L-8000 vs InSinkErator Badger 5XP Side-by-Side Comparison
Overall Verdict
The InSinkErator Badger 5XP has a 3/4 HP induction motor and its grind chamber is slightly narrower compared to the Waste King L-8000. Despite slight power differences, the Waste King’s permanent magnetic 1 HP motor proved more capable and its wider grind chamber more efficient. In terms of general build quality, neither machine will let you down.
Like similar InSinkErator designs, this Badger 5XP was, unfortunately, only good at processing raw chicken scraps, while failing with raw fish scraps, and mixed waste processing was well below par. The Waste King has a superior design for dealing elegantly with mixed scraps, but it struggles to grind down sinuous raw chicken parts.
