Moen GXS75C Host Series 3/4 HP vs Waste King L-8000 Side-by-Side Comparison
Overall Verdict
The Waste King is a slightly larger, 1-horsepower garbage disposal compared to the 3/4 horsepower of the Moen. Despite its weighted size and power, the Waste King was not that great with chicken scraps, despite a better performance with mixed scraps and difficult to process raw salmon skin and bones. For the most part, the grind assembly design seemed to lack capability to deal with spongy and slippery pieces of raw cartilage and skin.
In terms of build quality, the Moen is not surprisingly the better machine. It is also much easier to install, and its baffle splashes water into the chamber for better grinding action. At the end of the day, you pay more for the Moen, and despite its smaller size and power rating, it offers better overall value than the Waste King, which is more of a budget option for its larger size and what it can do.
