InSinkErator Evolution Essential XTR 3/4 HP vs GE Disposall Green 1/2 HP Garbage Disposal Side-by-Side Comparison
Overall Verdict
The InSinkErator Evolution Essential XTR 3/4 HP is one of the only two garbage disposals we’ve tested that can fully process raw fish remains including bones, skins, and fins. Not only that, the disposal is equipped with top-tier anti-vibration technology that keeps the noise profile down significantly. The disposal’s grinding components are also augmented to improve collision and breakage in the chamber (compared to lower-tier InSinkErator models)
So of course, the GE Disposall Green 1/2 HP can’t compete. It enjoys a much humbler grinding chamber and features no noise or vibration damping. But that doesn’t deny the fact it’s the best small garbage disposal in our lineup of eight different models. More importantly, the disposal even outperforms several stronger and pricier models.
Here’s something interesting: Although the Evolution Essential XTR outperformed the Disposall Green in processing raw meat scraps, they yield very similar results—almost identical—when they have to grind random but common kitchen scraps (including avocado pits and cooked bones) all at once. This speaks volumes about the true capabilities of the Disposall Green.
Both garbage disposals are high-tier models with stainless steel grinding components and strong motors. Their build quality should not be a problem as long as you know what you’re using them for, which is disposing of only food and water. The key to deciding between them is the sizes of your cabinets and their costs because the InSinkErator Essential XTR 3/4 HP is much more expensive than the GE Disposall Green 1/2 HP.
