InSinkErator Evolution Compact vs InSinkErator Badger 5XP Side-by-Side Comparison
Overall Verdict
These two InSinkErator garbage disposals both use a 3/4 HP induction motor with a 32 fl oz grind chamber. The Badger is considerably smaller in width and length, and weighs 2 lbs less. A key difference, however, are the grinders. The InSinkErator Evolution Compacts has an enhanced multi-grind mechanism made of stainless steel compared to the basic design of the Badger using cheaper, less durable galvanized steel.
The different grinder designs showed up clearly in the tests. The Badger 5XP took its time in battling down mixed scraps and proved unsuited for fish scraps. The Evolution Compact excelled with fish scraps and proved itself better at chicken scraps. Which disposal to choose depends on your needs and how much you can spend. However, there are better grinders for the price when it comes to the Badger 5XP.
