Overall Verdict

Although the InSinkErator Evolution Compact 3/4 HP has not been the most sought-after in recent years, the disposal remains one of the strongest options on the market. Its performance has always been consistent and its durability is nothing but not well-established. Unless you deliberately challenge it with tricky materials (for example, raw skin or cartilage from fish or chicken), the disposal should be fine.

However, one of the reasons why the Evolution Compact lost its popularity is because of a new generation of disposals like the GE Disposall Green. These disposals run on high-speed permanent magnet motors that rarely jam, and on quality models—like the disposal in question, they also offer solid craftsmanship and durable materials. Moreover, through performance evaluation, we know for sure that the Disposall Green is a highly capable grinder.

That said, the Evolution Compact is still the better-performing one. It’s not just because its test results are better, but also because it’s one of a few garbage disposals that are actually quiet thanks to InSinkErator’s exclusive technology. The GE Disposall Green, as a compact garbage disposal, offers minimal features, which means it can be loud. Ultimately, that shouldn’t matter as long as the disposal keeps on delivering drain-safe output.

Either of the two models in this matchup is a good choice with years of service in them. Unless you don’t have the space or the fund for it, we recommend the InSinkErator Evolution Compact 3/4 HP. Otherwise, the GE Disposall Green 1/2 HP is definitely a promising alternative.
