Overall Verdict

Right now, the key to deciding between the GE Disposall Green Garbage Disposal and the AmazonCommercial 1/2 HP is the $70 gap. From a performance standpoint, the GE Disposall Green is the better garbage disposal but not by leaps and bounds. Meanwhile, the AmazonCommercial costs much less yet manages to deliver where it matters the most.

The two disposals are similar in specs, utilizing permanent magnet motors and stainless steel grinding components. If dealing with common food scraps alone—anything from green leftovers to cooked hollow bones—both of them are good options. It’s when grinding the tougher, more resilient scraps (raw fish remains, for example) that the GE Disposall Green may be a little better.

Build-wise, both disposals are compact and they weigh about the same. The GE Green offers a little more holding capacity than the AmazonCommercial, but their grinder layout is basically identical; neither product features noise treatment. According to GE, the Disposall Green should be quieter because of its new-gen motor, but from experience, neither of them is quiet.

Both the GE Disposall Green 1/2 HP and the AmazonCommercial 1/2 HP should be able to take care of your daily food scraps in the kitchen, even avocado pits or cooked chicken bones. The only thing these two have the most trouble dealing with is the tricky, resilient scraps (like raw fish).
