Evergrind E202 1/2 HP vs InSinkErator Evolution Compact 3/4 HP Garbage Disposal Side-by-Side Comparison
Overall Verdict
The Emerson Evergrind E202 1/2 HP simply cannot compete with the likes of the InSinkErator Evolution Compact 3/4 HP. It’s not just because they have different power ratings, but also because the Evergrind E202 is one of the worst garbage disposals we’ve ever tested. That’s why even though the InSinkErator Compact costs a lot more money, it’s much more cost-effective in comparison.
Out of the seven 3/4-hp garbage disposals in our lineup, the Evolution Compact is not the best performing one; per our data from performance testing, it only ranks 4th (6th out of 20 products, overall). This mainly reflects the disposal’s consistent but average grinding capability, which means there are better grinders. What stands out about the Evolution Compact is how quiet it is during operation. In fact, the noise-damping features in the InSinkErator Evolution series are currently unmatched on the market.
The Evergrind E202, on the other hand, is as basic as it gets. It features no soundproofing and doesn’t look fancy. But we would happily look past that if the disposal hadn’t delivered such abysmal results in its evaluation. Not only did it not pass the standard test (random food scraps), it overheated a couple of times. So when it was time for the challenge tests (raw meat scraps), the disposal understandably failed.
In any circumstance, we do not recommend the Emerson Evergrind E202 1/2 HP due to how badly its motor may work; it’s an unnecessary inconvenience in the kitchen. By contrast, the InSinkErator Evolution Compact 3/4 HP is a reliable piece of equipment. It may be pricey, but it’s for your peace of mind.
