Overall Verdict

The AmazonCommercial 3/4 HP and the GE Disposall Green 1/2 HP are both capable kitchen garbage disposals. They can take care of a wide range of food scraps, including tough ones like avocado pits or cooked bones. If we’re simply looking at the core machinery, the AmazonCommercial, with its stronger motor, is the better-performing product.

According to our data, the AmazonCommercial unit ranks second out of the eight 3/4-hp garbage disposals in our collection, and third overall. It’s more than qualified to handle daily kitchen scraps, even if you cook frequently; just make sure there aren’t any raw meat scraps in the mix. 

The GE Disposall Green is also a top dog in its power range. Up to this moment, we’ve tested 20 different garbage disposals, eight of which are small 1/2-hp units, yet the Disposall Green ranks tenth overall. Simply put, the disposal outperforms not only its peers but four other stronger models, as well.

The GE and the AmazonCommcerial run on the same type of efficient, high-speed motors so they operate for long periods of time without heating up too quickly. They also have the same chamber layout with almost identical grinder parts and roughly the same holding capacity. 

The AmazonCommercial 3/4 HP takes up more cabinet space than GE Disposall Green 1/2 HP, so choosing between them is first a size preference. The GE Disposall Green costs a lot more than the AmazonCommercial, which sounds worse than it is since Amazon's play here is only to make use of blank cardboard boxes and shorter warranty periods.
