Everything We Recommend
Let’s take a closer look at our top picks. Below is a preview of Vitamix blenders which we consider to be the most worthwhile.
For anyone who wants superior professional-grade blending power and regularly prepares big servings in one go, the Vitamux 5200 is a perfect fit.
The Vitamix E310 features the same 2.0 HP motor power as the Vitamix 5200, but differentiates itself in capacity. Its smaller 48-ounce container is best suited for individuals, couples, or small households who don't particularly need to blend very large batches at once. The more portable size also makes it easier to handle and less bulky on the counter.
You might reach for a countertop blender out of habit, but an immersion blender is often more convenient, particularly for blending smaller batches of soups, sauces, and baby foods right where they’re made. And that’s the reason this Vitamix 5-speed deserves a place on our list.
How We Test Our Vitamix Blenders
Our reviews are based on tests we’ve done ourselves. We designed our evaluations to give you a full perspective on how each Vitamix blender actually works. Our recommendations are the result of extensive testing by our team of reviewers, in-house technical experts, and culinary consultants.

We wanted our tests to reflect the blender’s practicality in a real kitchen, so we developed them according to the most common use of the products. It’s also worth noting that the tests and testing parameters differ based on the blender’s type—immersion blenders don’t get the same set of tests as countertop blenders, for example. But all products under a single category go through the exact same series of tests. This makes it possible to compare the products side by side.
Before the actual testing takes place, we run a series of “trial tests” to check for flaws in the logic and practicality of the tests themselves, and make adjustments accordingly. During the final product testing, we record and collate all data including photographic and video evidence.
How Our Recommendations Are Made
Recommendations are based upon the testing results and their associated scores. We take into account the specialized strengths of a product, the situation it’s best suited for, and the personal circumstances where it will fit best.
Vitamix 5200 Professional Blender
Best Overall
For anyone who wants superior professional-grade blending power and regularly prepares big servings in one go, the Vitamux 5200 is a perfect fit.

Things We Like
- From simple to demanding, it can handle nearly every recipe.
- Beginner-friendly design ensures optimal ease of use.
- Various speed settings provide precise control for different recipes.
- The 64-ounce container is ideal for family-sized batches.
- With the seven-year warranty, you don’t have to stress about durability
Things We Don’t Like
- Not the best choice if you have low-hanging cabinets or limited vertical space.
- It's capable of crushing ice, but may require a quick stir to get the best results.
Powering the Vitamix 5200 is a 2.0-horsepower (1500-watt) motor. With the pitcher attached, the blender measures about 7.3 inches wide, 8.8 inches deep, and 20.5 inches tall. It’s quite tall for most kitchen cabinets, but the base is still fairly slim, so it shouldn’t take over your counter.
In our testing, the Vitamix 5200 performed like a true high-end blender. It handled both green smoothies and frozen fruit smoothies in about one minute. We did need to stop briefly and stir to help the milk mix fully with the frozen fruit, but this was a small step on the way to a very smooth drink. It also blended protein shakes quickly and turned almonds into smooth almond butter in a single short blending session.

The only area where it didn’t completely shine was ice-crushing. It didn’t produce a fluffy, snow-like texture, but it still crushed about 81% of a 12-ounce batch of ice into a fine consistency—good enough for most icy drinks.
The control panel is simple and easy to understand, even if you never open the user manual. However, the tall, narrow container can be a bit hard to clean if you have larger hands. That said, filling it with warm soapy water and running the blender on high usually cleans it well without much effort.
All in all, while the Vitamix 5200 won’t suit every buyer, it’s a great option if your priority is commercial-style use or if you frequently blend large amounts in one go. Just remember that you'll sacrifice some compact size in exchange for its generous capacity.

Vitamix Explorian E310 Blender
Best for Home Use
The Vitamix E310 features the same 2.0 HP motor power as the Vitamix 5200, but differentiates itself in capacity. Its smaller 48-ounce container is best suited for individuals, couples, or small households who don't particularly need to blend very large batches at once. The more portable size also makes it easier to handle and less bulky on the counter.

Things We Like
- It delivers high-end blending power in a cheaper, smaller, and easier-to-clean package.
- One of the best values in the Vitamix lineup, it excels in every major test.
- The Pulse function helps you get more control over texture.
- The 48-ounce container is ideal for small to medium households
Things We Don’t Like
- Warranty is shorter at 5 years.
Performance-wise, the E310 absolutely keeps up with the Vitamix 5200, and in some tasks, it even does better, despite being about $100 cheaper. You can count on it to prepare velvety green smoothies, chunk-free icy blends, and even grind hard nuts into spreadable butters. Workout shakes are no challenge either, whether you add protein powder, oats, or heavier dried foods into the mix.

And if you often crush ice for cocktails or icy drinks, the E310 should be the top choice compared to the Vitamix 5200. Thanks to the wider base, ingredients have more space to circulate, which helps tough items like ice get drawn into the blades evenly rather than getting stuck or sitting where the blades can’t reach them. That's why, in our test, it could turn a 12-ounce batch of ice into a fine, snowy texture very quickly. The wider base is also a game-changer during cleaning. It lets you easily reach behind the blades and into normally hard-to-clean spots.
Another standout feature is the Pulse function, something the Vitamix 5200 and several other models don’t include. It’s helpful when you want more control, like when you’re chopping vegetables, making salsa, or breaking up things without turning them into a smooth puree right away.
Overall, the Vitamix E310 is an unparalleled mid-size blender. While it seems to be more expensive than many standard blenders, its top-tier power and outstanding durability certainly outweigh the extra cost. We have no hesitation in recommending it.

Vitamix 5-Speed Immersion Blender
Best Immersion
You might reach for a countertop blender out of habit, but an immersion blender is often more convenient, particularly for blending smaller batches of soups, sauces, and baby foods right where they’re made. And that’s the reason this Vitamix 5-speed deserves a place on our list.

Things We Like
- It’s well-suited for recipes that include tougher, fibrous, or frozen foods.
- 4-pronged heavy-duty blade promotes speedy blends and consistent results
- The interface is intuitive enough that you can use it without constantly checking the manual.
- Its ergonomic handle sits comfortably in the hand, reducing strain during use.
- The non-metal blade guard prevents scratching your pots, pans, or containers.
- Durable stainless steel body adds a premium feel and is resistant to wear.
Things We Don’t Like
- Because of its relatively heavy weight, it’s not the easiest blender to maneuver.
So far, this is the best immersion blender we’ve tested. Compared to typical models, it offers noticeably stronger performance, handling even the toughest ingredients that many rivals often can’t manage. Plus, the motor feels so strong and consistent that you may spend less time stirring, stopping, or fighting with stubborn pieces.

The smoothie test, in particular, took just 1 minute, a full 20 seconds faster than the average competitor, to give us a creamy, chunk-free icy drink. It also didn’t take long to puree soups. Of all the hand blenders we tested, it was the only one that produced velvety hot puree in only 30 seconds. We also tested its emulsifying and nut-grinding capabilities and never came away disappointed. Again and again, it left us with unbeatable results, which were very close to what you’d get from a full-size blender.
In fact, much of its wonderful performance is attributed to the high-powered 650-watt motor and unique blending shaft. Instead of a standard 2-pronged blade, it uses a 4-pronged blade for more contact with the ingredients and smoother, more even blends. We also truly appreciate its non-metal blade guard, which helps a lot in reducing suction and protecting your bowls from scratches. That said, the shaft is not dishwasher-safe, so you’ll need to clean it by hand. Luckily, most food residue can be rinsed off under running water.
In short, you can hardly go wrong choosing the Vitamix immersion blender. The common issues of low strength or uncomfortable handling are nowhere to be found here.

Is a Vitamix Blender Worth the Money?
Throughout our years of reviewing kitchen appliances, we've come across countless blenders. Yet, none seem to offer the unparalleled value that Vitamix consistently delivers. While the up-front price might give you a little sticker shock, a closer examination of its capabilities, robust design, and enduring benefits positions the Vitamix not just as another appliance, but a long-term culinary investment.
Beyond standard blending, Vitamix blenders can handle a plethora of tasks including grinding, chopping, emulsifying, kneading, and even heating soups. Their durability stands out as well. Many users are happy to vouch for their Vitamix units, stating they remain in peak condition even after a decade of frequent usage.
In addition, our interactions have consistently shown Vitamix's customer service to be both efficient and accommodating. If there are any issues with the product during its warranty period, which notably lasts an impressive 5-10 years—far longer than the standard warranty for most blenders—you can genuinely expect swift and dedicated support.

Our Expertise

Tina is a seasoned tester who’s been with us at Shouldit since 2018. She brings with her a wealth of experience in different types of blenders including immersion, personal, and full-sized models. Her most recent testing initiative was a result of her collaboration with Chef Tuyet Pham and Test Lead Lap Vo. Together, they conducted in-depth research, developed a test process, and analyzed the recipes.
Over the course of two years, Tina and her team have tested more than 35 blenders using a combination of laboratory-style testing and real-world usage scenarios. They wanted to evaluate the appliances not only in their new condition but also after months of regular use. Their methodical execution and attention to detail resulted in accurate and reliable testing results.
