Turelar 5-in-1 1100W Immersion Blender Review

Overall Verdict

Performance-wise, the Turelar is an average immersion blender. Despite its super-powerful 1100-watt motor, we found it's only best suited for light-duty tasks, such as pureéing hot soups, making fresh fruit smoothies, and emulsifying sauces. Ice and frozen stuff might put a strain on the motor.

The blender's aesthetic is otherwise exceptional and fashionable, with a stainless steel exterior that looks sleeker and ages more gracefully than plastic. The variable-speed trigger feature is unique and perfectly responsive, though we still prefer simple dual-button speed control or a top-mounted rotating dial for good reasons.

Things We Like

  • Easy assembly, disassembly, and cleaning make it user-friendly.
  • You can toss all the attachments straight into the dishwasher.
  • A moderately versatile performer that doesn’t break the bank.

Things We Don’t Like

  • While the motor sounds powerful on paper, it struggles with certain ingredients, including frozen foods and nuts.
  • A small blending head brings a lot of limitations.
  • The trigger feels plasticky.

Turelar's motor power and generous set of accessories make every budget-conscious buyer look twice. At around $40, it's a great bargain, especially when your kitchen is tight and versatility matters. But is it really as good as it promises? We've tested it through thick purées, icy smoothies, along other go-to recipes to find out.

5.5 Performance

The first test with our new immersion blender, the Turelar, is the exciting first hours before the mundane sets in. We were very satisfied with the hearty pureé it produced, and suction hadn't got in the way of our blending experience yet. That said, this enthusiasm quickly faded once we put it through more demanding recipes. It’s still efficient enough for simple smoothies, quick emulsions, and medium batches of hot soups, but the denser the food, the more chunks remain in the final consistency.

Our Turelar came close to delivering on smoothness, and we fairly enjoyed the blending process. Throughout 30 seconds of running, it felt steady, controlled, and tidy. There was no splashing, no awkward jerks, and just very little suction.

The blender did a pretty good job of pulling food into the blades on its own. It managed to keep everything circulating without major clogs, so we didn't have to pause it mid-blend to poke things around.

The soup churned out moderately smooth. Its texture was pleasant and absolutely fine as a simple, quick homemade version. On closer inspection, we ran it through a fine-mesh sieve and found a small amount of residue remained. They were soft, tiny pulp that wouldn't pose any choking risk but might leave a rough, gritty feeling on your tongue. Of all the blenders we tested, there were only a few ones that yielded velvety results. They include the Vitamix 5-speed, and Ninja Foodi Power Mix.

With up to a 1000-watt motor, the Turelar was still unable to achieve a passing result. So, it's clear that the ice-crushing promise doesn’t hold up, because even just frozen fruits proved too much.

The time limit for this test was set to 3 minutes, and within this period, the blender encountered persistent challenges breaking down the ingredients. Even when we noticed the once-frozen fruits slowly softened, and everything should’ve come together, this Turelar still couldn’t quite get there.

We had to put a lot of force, pushing and moving the hand blender deeper into the mixture to improve contact between its blades and the ingredients. We believed this would help the ingredients be processed more effectively. What we didn't expect was that because of our pushing pressure, they turned out tightly compressed against the blade and its bell-shaped guard, and this prevented any actual blending.

A few pauses were required for stirring and pulsing, yet despite repeated attempts, the mixture retained a coarse texture, with numerous fruit pieces that failed to fully blend.

In fact, several hand blenders we've tested could pass this task with nice results; some even delivered an exceptionally silky smoothie in just one minute. The Braun MultiQuick 7 and the cordless KitchenAid KHBBV53 are great examples.

8.3 Mayonnaise

The test was only completed on the second attempt, primarily because we were still figuring out how to manage the speed control. To combine the oil and egg yolk and form the texture to a stable emulsion, the blender must operate on the lowest speed setting. Anything stronger often prevents the oil and egg from bonding properly, which will lead to failure.

The problem is that it's very tricky to adjust and maintain the required power level. At the first trial, we tried to keep the speed slow by pressing the trigger gently. However, somehow, the blender just kept jumping back to full power, causing the emulsion to break almost instantly.

The second attempt was a smoother process. Since we already got the hang of it, the blender took only one minute and thirty seconds to bring the mixture together. A minor issue arose when the beaker couldn’t stay in place under the vibration of the motor, but we quickly regained control by stabilizing it by hand.

Regarding the mayonnaise's quality, although it was thinner than our desired texture, it proved stable and consistent. It also showed no signs of breaking and was pleasantly spreadable.

7.8 Almond Milk

When we moved on to this almond milk test, things got messy fast. Initially, the nuts were ground quite quickly, and after just one minute and twenty seconds, they had fully broken down and blended with the water to create a smooth consistency.

However, it made quite a mess while doing so due to splashing. At about the 40-second blending point, the liquid became unstable and suddenly spread outward. We managed to lower the speed back to level 1 to get things back under control, but again, we found it was significantly difficult to get the blender to stay on the slowest setting.

The reason might come from the milk’s thin texture and low density, which didn't provide enough resistance for the blades to cut through smoothly. As a result, the rapid spin kept whipping air into the liquid, leading to an unstable vortex that threw the milk upward. The speed trigger also played an important role here. Due to its highly sensitive nature, even slight pressure changes could result in sudden bursts of power, making it more challenging to maintain consistent operation.

10 Whipped Egg-Whites

We considered this whipped egg whites test to be the blender’s most successful performance. The blending process was fast yet gentle enough to introduce plenty of air without collapsing the texture. Thanks to its functional design, the whisk attachment efficiently foamed all the egg whites, turning them from a liquid state to stable, stiff peaks in under 2 minutes.

7.6 Design

The Turelar is relatively bulky, but the added mass is due to its stainless steel construction. The build materials are hardy and durable, except for the trigger, which is a bit flimsy, feeling made from lower-grade plastic. The overall design is straightforward, with minimalistic aesthetics for user-friendly blending experiences, which is a nice plus overall.

We found the blender a little on the larger side, but it remains balanced to handle. Meanwhile, the long blending shaft is a great advantage. It reaches any deep pot or tall vessels without you having to tilt or chase the mixture.

7.5 Build Quality

This Turaler is built to meet expectations without standing out. It holds its own, offering fairly solid construction with a mix of metal and plastic (the handle area and buttons). So far, we haven't noticed any scratches on the exterior, which we often experience with models in the same range. Even if there were some, they wouldn't affect the blender's performance or sturdiness.

The trigger works based on how much pressure you apply to it. Simply put, with a light press, you can achieve a gentle blend at the lowest speed, and as you press harder, the speed increases through five levels. We particularly like this system because it makes the blender more convenient for one-handed use, compared to the dial speed and two-button settings.

The blending shaft features a 4-prong blade of mid-grade quality. Its head has a black, hard plastic around the edge, which is designed to minimize splatters and prevent damage to your cookware's surface. Better yet, it's heat-resistant, giving you the peace of mind of knowing it won't melt, release odors, or leach harmful chemicals into your foods.

The biggest drawback of the shaft's head is that it's narrower and smaller than the standard size, and this was exactly the reason behind its failure in the smoothie test. Apart from blending a bit slower than larger competitors, it's more prone to clogging, especially when dealing with thicker mixtures. It can also cause splashing if not fully submerged in liquid, so be cautious with how deep you're going into the blending beaker.

Likewise, we haven't put this frother to the test, but we’ll inform you as soon as we have results on its capability of creating foam and froth in milk.

7.7 Usability

Despite its straightforward design and convenience, the blender's usability leaves much to be desired. For lighter tasks, it’s a breeze to use, and its ergonomic handle offers some comfort. However, when attempting to blend tougher ingredients or when dealing with liquid-based recipes, it turns out to be very challenging to maneuver.

7.0 Ease of Use

We truly appreciate the speed display indicator, which lets you easily check your current speed setting. That said, it doesn't make up for the difficulty of using the trigger. As mentioned earlier, this component is highly responsive, but unfortunately, the responsiveness seems to work against achieving the desired slow speed. As soon as you press the trigger, no matter how light your pressure is, it often jumps straight to the highest levels. This complicates the process of starting gradually and maintaining a slow, controlled speed, which is necessary for delicate tasks, like emulsifying mayonnaise, stirring custards, and grinding spices.

And because dense, hard foods tend to get clogged around the blades, the blending process might be interrupted a couple of times for you to loosen them.

9.0 Blade Assembly

Setting up the blender couldn't be easier. Just align the blending shaft or any other attachment with the motor housing and press down until it feels locked in. The components fit together precisely and hold steady without play. Disassembly is equally straightforward due to the release buttons located on opposite sides of the metal body. Give both of them a slight press at the same time, and the blending shaft should slide off effortlessly.

8.5 Handling

We liked how comfortable the handle is to grip. It's light, ergonomically designed, and able to maintain a natural wrist position for maximum stability over long blending sessions. However, the smooth surface can get slick if your hands are damp or oily, plus the plasticky buttons still make your fingers fatigue after a while.

8.5 Cleanability

All the attachments are dishwasher-safe, but after each test, a quick rinse under running water was enough to clear away every trace of food, even from the narrow spaces near the blades. The only time it resisted our effort was after tackling mayonnaise because oil and water don’t mix, and the residue repels water, which caused the oily film to cling tightly to the metal surface of the blades. We let it soak in warm, soapy water for a bit before trying again, yet the blade's backsides remained tricky to scrub clean.
