Braun MQ5025 MultiQuick Vario Immersion Blender Review

Overall Verdict
The Braun MQ5025 Multiquick Vario is an excellent buy for the price. It gives you good power for everyday cooking, and it’s flexible enough to do more than just soup. You can blend, mix, and handle a lot of small kitchen jobs, from blending smoothies to emulsifying sauces to mixing light doughs, without needing extra tools.
The design doesn't seem especially premium, but we can confidently say the overall build quality more than compensates. And alongside its simple operation, the cleanup process is just as convenient, which means you won't think twice before taking it out again. Honestly, it’s rare to find a product that meets high expectations entirely, but this blender does. So if you're looking for an exceptionally well-rounded immersion blender without spending much, the Braun MQ5025 Multiquick Vario wins our vote!

We’ve tested many immersion blenders, but Braun consistently stands out as a strong contender. This Braun MQ5025 MultiQuick Vario comes with a 400-watt motor, and it’s now the third Braun model we’ve owned. We previously reviewed the Braun MultiQuick 5 and the Braun MultiQuick 7, and both won us over, so we had high expectations for this one. Keep reading for the full review, and you’ll see whether it earns the same spot in our lineup
8.1 Performance
The Braun MQ5025 passed all of our performance tests with consistently strong results, ranging from good to outstanding. In most cases, people turn to a hand blender for its basic purposes, which include pureeing soups and blending smoothies. With this model, however, you can gain much more thanks to the wide range of accessories that come with it. Chances are, you'll be very impressed by its ability to make mayonnaise and beat egg whites.
8.5 Hot Soup Purée

It's safe to say that the MQ5025's greatest strength is its puréeing ability. Within just 30 seconds, you can expect a restaurant-inspired soup, velvety and creamy with a pleasantly silky texture produced by this blender. There were a few solids left behind when we strained our testing soup through a mesh strainer, but they were microscopic and didn’t affect our enjoyment. Even a powerful Vitamix 5-speed leaves some leftover solids sometimes, so honestly, it’s not a big deal. If anything, the MQ5025 could probably get even smoother if you purée it a bit longer.
On top of that, we hadn't had too many problems while blending. It'd mainly just been us getting used to moving the wand. This created a little anxiety if, say, we handled it improperly. In fact, the concern was reasonable, as we occasionally got skin burns when hot soup splashed out of the beaker due to shallow blending while working with underperforming blenders. Fortunately, the MQ5025 could draw food toward the blades on its own so effectively that we didn't have to “force” the blending wand around. End-to-end, it was an exceptionally smooth puréeing process.
6.8 Frozen Fruit Smoothie

We've used enough blenders to understand how difficult this test was. For the most part, models at this price range lack the strength to blend through frozen fruits. Their motors and blades simply aren’t built to handle such solid ingredients.
Similar to these budget-friendly machines, the Braun MQ5025 did show some difficulty when pushed to its limits. However, the slight struggle was minimal, and in the end, it still managed to complete its test successfully. Overall, our blender took less than two minutes to get the job done, which was a clear plus because frozen smoothies need to be enjoyed cool, and a slower process risks the mixture losing its best quality.
Regarding the result, there was almost zero leftover sediment. Kale, mango, and pineapple were thoroughly incorporated, giving the smoothie a luxurious texture and refreshing frostiness.
8.3 Mayonnaise

The Braun MQ5025 performed acceptably in this particular test. The whole emulsifying process demanded one minute and ten seconds, which was neither too slow nor especially fast. The mayonnaise came out smooth, spreadable, and quite stable, though it lacks the body and density of top-quality versions. Nevertheless, this result likely comes from our recipe, rather than the blender's limits. To build its thickness, mayonnaise needs a sufficient amount of oil, so the thinner consistency may simply mean we didn’t add enough.
9.0 Almond Milk

Thanks to its anti-suction design, we didn't have to fight against the blender “gluing” itself to the beaker's bottom. From start to finish, it felt very easy to maneuver the blending stick around, so spattering was minimal, if not none at all.
Many cheaper or conventional models lack this advantage, causing them to be harder to use and less efficient. Instead of letting the vortex do the work, you have to use extra force to lift or move their sticks, which may be tiring and can feel pretty jerky. Not to mention that if it's done violently, the liquid can fling outward in all directions.
We also love this blender for the final product it delivered. Since the almonds were broken into the finest possible particles, in the end, we've got a cup of smooth, creamy delight carrying maximum nutty flavor. Of all the mid-powered hand blenders we tested, the Braun MQ5025 was among the select few that can yield such a first-rate performance.
10 Whipped Egg-Whites

For a hand blender featuring a whisking accessory, this test was a breeze. Not only did it beat fast, but the high efficiency was accompanied by a great outcome as well. The whites stood tall in firm peaks that didn’t collapse, perfect for meringues, macarons, and pavlovas. If you only bake simple recipes now and then, this immersion blender works fine.
9.1 Design
Although the design of the Braun MQ5025 isn't very contemporary with its black plastic housing, the build quality is top-notch. The 400-watt motor lets you switch between 21 speeds settings with ease, while the 4-prong blade is solid enough for even challenging foods. What amazed us most was the bell-shaped guard. From Braun, we've come to expect this feature to be biased toward splatter prevention.
In general, that's what the MQ5025 offers, but it's not quite that simple. Apart from reducing the risk of food splashing all over your counter, the bell design also helps create a steady circulation that makes blending faster, smoother, and easier, without needing extra effort from you. So far, we haven’t found a single thing that needs improvement; everything about this blender feels just right.

Dimensions

The Braun MQ5025 is about the same size as most standard immersion blenders. This means it has a manageable weight and will slip neatly into your drawer or cupboard without cluttering your kitchen.
Measured about 9 inches, the blending shaft lets you access the deepest pots effortlessly, while the sleek, portable build ensures you won’t get tired hands along the way. Our reviewers highlighted the practical footprint of this blender as a key strength.
9.0 Build Quality

Practical, dependable, and built to last, the MQ5025 is a mid-range immersion blender you can count on every day. While the design is simple, it offers practical value, with a build quality aligned perfectly with what you pay. It’s true that you could save a few dollars with a cheaper blender, but we assure you won’t get the same sturdy, confident feel of this one. We've had our hands on several low-priced models, but most couldn't hold up to real standards. Some shake violently during use, while others are too flimsy to inspire long-term trust. Unlike them, from top to bottom, the quality of this Braun is consistent. Engineered with durability in mind, it gives you the peace of mind that comes with knowing your blender will serve you well for many years.
Speed and Controls

The blender features 21 speed settings, plus a Turbo mode that effectively gives you a short burst of maximum power. To blend at the speed you choose, simply turn the dial at the top, which you can even do mid-blend without losing balance, no matter how fast you’re going.
Another highlight worth mentioning is the acceleration process. Instead of it jumping to full power the second you switch the motor on, the speed ramps up gradually. Apart from preventing liquids and lighter ingredients from splashing out of the container, this smooth acceleration helps you avoid over-processing soft foods (e.g., cream, herbs, or eggs). It also lowers stress on the motor and keeps it from overheating or wearing out too quickly. Even at higher speeds, the blend remains steady, with its motor and blade being well-balanced to prevent sudden jerks.
Better yet, the buttons are placed right where your fingers naturally rest, reducing fatigue and giving you full control over the blending process. The general impression is that you could power through anything with the Braun MQ5025, and the consistent balance of speed, comfort, and control makes every blend enjoyable.
9.0 Blending Shaft

It’s hard not to appreciate the Powerbell technology of this blender. It's Braun’s patented design for its blending shaft and blade system, which involves a unique bell-shaped guard around the specially-angled stainless-steel blades to make blending faster, smoother, and cleaner.
Many standard hand blenders have guards that are nearly flat or in round dome shapes. Those designs typically work, but not as effectively as the MQ5025's guard form. They tend to create more suction and often push liquid outward, causing significant turbulence and splatter.
The Braun MQ5025 is different from others by applying fluid dynamics to reshape the guard into a bell, which helps pull food downward and inward toward the blades instead of letting it splash outward. A result? More food is blended per rotation, and with less spatter, you get a mess-free blend.
10 Beaker

To make blending even more convenient, the set includes an anti-scratch beaker. It's made of BPA-free plastic with a compact size ideal for preparing 1-2 servings at once. There are measuring marks on the side letting you add ingredients precisely, so there’s no need for extra measuring cups. The beaker also has a small pouring spout, which is especially useful for making pouring clean and controlled.
Extra Accessories: Whisk Attachment

The whisk attachment doesn't reflect the highest quality, but it's still useful as an added convenience for light, everyday tasks (whipping cream, eggs, sauces, etc). However, if you plan to work with heavy doughs or make large batches, this add-on won't live up to the hype.
10 Power cord

The reasonable cord length gives you flexibility in where you use it. Regarding its plug, the classic 2-prong configuration fits securely into any standard outlet.
Extra Accessories: Food Processor

Testing on this attachment is still pending. Still, given the blender motor's power and its razor-sharp blades, we think this food processor could cut onions, garlic, herbs, nuts, or small amounts of vegetables quickly. For slicing, shredding, grinding, or kneading dough, a stand-alone food processor seems to be more reliable.
9.4 Usability
The credit for the exemplary performance of this MQ5025 must go as much to its wonderful usability as to its solid body structure. The one-handed design isn't unique to Braun, but compared to other models, it feels more polished and purposeful. Just be aware that because the blender's guard is made from metal, it should be immersed in uncoated stainless steel or cast iron pans, which can handle its hard steel edges better than nonstick coatings. Otherwise, your coated pans can be scratched and end up with tiny grooves where oil, food, and bacteria will collect.
9.5 Ease of Use
The MQ5025's operation was clear and easy to grasp immediately due to its simplicity. Accelerating was also far simpler than what we've experienced with models featuring trigger-style speed control—a design where you adjust the blending speed based on your finger pressure (typically, the harder you press, the faster it blends).
A heavy-duty construction adds weight, but it feels almost effortless to maneuver the blending wand. And since the PowerBell technology proves effective in ingesting contents and preventing suction, you won’t have to simultaneously lift and stir the wand around so often for an even blend.
Looking back, we can say it was a satisfying experience using this blender.
9.5 Blade Assembly
There are two small buttons on the blender's sides, right where the motor body meets the blending shaft. Just press them, and the blending shaft will release on its own. The one-touch mechanism feels intuitive, so even first-time users can operate it without confusion. Locking the blending shaft into place is as simple. Simply align it with the main body until they click together. Even if your hands are slippery, the installation process remains smooth and reassuringly secure.
9.5 Handling

We can't help but keep wondering how long it must have taken for Braun to develop this hand blender, as the handling experience feels almost flawless. It seems every detail has been refined until it meets and even exceeds expectations.
Continuous pressing of a power button can be tiring or even painful for those with arthritis or limited grip strength, but not with this MQ5025. This results from the curved grip of its handle follows the natural contours of the hand, reducing strain on the wrist and fingers during a prolonged process.
Besides, the textured surface adds just the right amount of friction, so the handle might remain firm in your grip, even when your hands are wet or oily. And since the weight distribution is well thought out, it isn't heavy at one end or cumbersome to control.
9.0 Cleanability
The smooth surface of the motor body cleans up easily with a damp wipe. All the attachments, including the blending wand, are top-rack dishwasher-safe, which is definitely a clear cleaning advantage. However, we recommend that you clean it by hand so as to maintain its shiny finish, as frequent exposure to abrasive dishwasher detergents can lead to surface discoloration. Over time, they can even dull the blades, causing them to become less effective.
After each test, it wasn’t so difficult to scrub the backs of the blades or between the loops of the whisk attachment. But if you find it tricky, we've got a useful tip to share. Rather than rinse the blade end under running water, you blend it directly with soapy water. That's called a self-rinse process, in which the spinning blades will swirl the water and automatically dislodge food. For sticky or greasy residue, it's better to soak the shaft for a few minutes before cleaning.
